Florida has long been known as a top destination. Many people approaching retirement are on the hunt for an area where they can enjoy a higher quality of life, preferably with a warm climate, an endless amount of activities, plenty of shopping and dining options, low taxes and access to quality health care.

Naples, Florida, ranks as the No. 1 Best Place to Retire in the U.S. in 2025. The U.S. News Best Places to Retire analysis includes data about affordability and cost of living, desirability, happiness, retiree taxes, the local job market and access to quality health care. While other factors – such as personal preferences or proximity to family – certainly influence where Americans choose to retire, the metrics U.S. News considered can contribute to a high quality of life. The ranking compares 150 top cities in the U.S.

Naples ranks No. 3 for desirability, which accounts for U.S. residents’ interest in retiring there, based on a SurveyMonkey survey of more than 3,500 people, as well as entertainment and attraction establishments relative to the population size. With a value ranking of 95, it isn’t the most affordable place to live – the median home price tops $577,000, more than twice the national average home value of $281,000 – but it has a healthy job market for retirees still in the workforce and a median household income of $98,120, well above the national median of $75,149.

Retirees will find themselves in good company in Naples, where 36% of the residents are 65 and older.
